We had another doctors appointment and ultrasound this past week, and once again everything went exactly how we prayed it would. Lacy was having another ultrasound to make sure she could have the baby vaginally, as her placenta has been low the entire time and they were worried that she would have to have a C-section if the placenta hadn't moved up by now; and sure enough it had moved up and everything is 100% normal.
Lacy hasn't gained as much weight as some of the books say she should, but that is an attribute of healthy eating and exercising. The only "cravings" she has had are water and juices... and french fries which she has always had. Although, as I type this I think she is on her way to Marble Slab, ha. The doctors aren't concerned with her weight because Addie is obviously gaining weight and progressing right on schedule.
Addie now weighs 2.6 pounds and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. She is measuring in the 43rd percentile and is right on schedule. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, Lacy really needs to keep a healthy diet, which she has been doing from day 1. Calcium is something she knows she needs to get more of, especially while Addie's bones are hardening. Addie can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through Lacy's womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, her brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning in week 26 — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born then. Luckily we are 3 weeks past that point.
Addie is still very active and it seems she is dancing around in there nonstop. I can feel her and see her on Lacy's belly which blows my mind. Addie got Lacy a 3D/4D ultrasound for Christmas, and we are having that done tomorrow at a place specializing in prenatal ultrasounds. We should have some good pictures on the next post.
Only a couple days and we will hit week 30! Almost there...
