30 Weeks and First Baby Shower

We had another doctors appointment on Monday, it seems like we go every week, but we still aren't to that point yet. Everything is still good. Lacy still isn't big enough, but she is getting bigger. She is just a healthy eater and still exercises regularly. Addie is still growing (she is in the 33rd percentile) so the doctors aren't worried. Lacy went to the doctor Monday with a list of questions, because for the first real time she is starting to experience some pain and discomfort. She was assured it was all normal and not to worry.

There she is! 30 weeks and 2 days.

Addie is around 3 pounds and 15-16 inches long. She is still wild and exercises regularly just like her Momma. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very good yet. Even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face, which means her vision will be liker her Daddy's...

I have found myself looking for "A Baby Story" On Demand lately as it is all becoming more and more real. I am now a lot more interested in the signs and symptoms of "go time".... or labor. Lacy is also starting to have anxiety when she thinks about labor and delivery. So we are watching anything on the Discovery Channel, Lifetime, or TLC that has to do with pregnancy and birth, and Lacy continues to read every book or magazine that she can get her hands on.

We finally got the curtains hung, what a nightmare those things were. They were either to long, to short, and even when the level said they were perfectly straight they looked perfectly crooked. BUT, they are up, and they look great.

See, they are perfect. Right?

The crib and changing table are no longer on backorder and are in the process of being delivered. I can't wait to put those things together.... The dresser is still on backorder and is scheduled to be shipped on March 3. Nothing like cutting it a little close right? Lacy said the other day, "this baby aint making it another 10 weeks!"

Lacy had her first baby shower tonight and we stocked the nursery with all kinds of gifts and toys. What a huge blessing it is to have friends who want to help out. Our families have been awesome and I think the only way we will ever be able to repay them is to let them babysit, right Mom?

Lacy and her hosts. Thank YOU!

Looks like I missed out.

Abby is confused about what is going on in here.

Aunt Susu got Addie this a few weeks ago in an effort to get a head start on the favorite Aunt race.

Aunt Stacie got this for her tonight at the shower. Susan 1 - Stacie 1

And Aunt Susan is back on top with another gift tonight. Kelly or Christy, do you all want to get in on this?
There is still plenty of time left.

Mom got her this ladybug outfit, along with many others. Addie can be my ladybug whenever she wants.

How awesome is this? We got this in the mail this week from Lindsey. The UT burp rag will go
perfect with the outfit my brother got her for Christmas.

I've got some meetings in Asheville tomorrow and Lacy is going to meet me after work for a weekend getaway. Probably our last one in this life, because in a few weeks nothing will be the same, and we can't wait!

3D/4D Ultrasound

We got to see Addie up close and personal on Monday, and although she wasn't totally cooperative, we got some good pics and video of her. When she didn't have her hands covering her face, she had her feet covering it. We caught her chewing on the umbilical cord and at the very end we caught her chilling out and giving us the "hang loose" sign. If you are wondering what the 4th dimension is (like I was), it is "real time". We were once again reminded of the power of God and how he can knit together everything in his perfect form to bring life to this world to fulfill his purpose and plan. Meet our daughter, enjoy the videos and photos.

26-29 Weeks

We had another doctors appointment and ultrasound this past week, and once again everything went exactly how we prayed it would. Lacy was having another ultrasound to make sure she could have the baby vaginally, as her placenta has been low the entire time and they were worried that she would have to have a C-section if the placenta hadn't moved up by now; and sure enough it had moved up and everything is 100% normal.

Lacy hasn't gained as much weight as some of the books say she should, but that is an attribute of healthy eating and exercising. The only "cravings" she has had are water and juices... and french fries which she has always had. Although, as I type this I think she is on her way to Marble Slab, ha. The doctors aren't concerned with her weight because Addie is obviously gaining weight and progressing right on schedule.

Addie now weighs 2.6 pounds and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. She is measuring in the 43rd percentile and is right on schedule. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, Lacy really needs to keep a healthy diet, which she has been doing from day 1. Calcium is something she knows she needs to get more of, especially while Addie's bones are hardening. Addie can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through Lacy's womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, her brain is very active now.  While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning in week 26 — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born then. Luckily we are 3 weeks past that point.

Addie is still very active and it seems she is dancing around in there nonstop. I can feel her and see her on Lacy's belly which blows my mind. Addie got Lacy a 3D/4D ultrasound for Christmas, and we are having that done tomorrow at a place specializing in prenatal ultrasounds. We should have some good pictures on the next post.

Only a couple days and we will hit week 30! Almost there...
